Emily Schmidt) has put together an amazing video series about wild plants, called <a href=\"https:\/\/mushroomhunting.org\/index.php\/product\/in-the-weeds-with-emily-schmidt-spring-series\/\"><em>In the Weeds with Emily Schmidt<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0 At times we also sell books, such as Ryan&#8217;s influential book-and-calendar combination <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Gourmet Mushrooms of the Northeast 2019<\/span><em>&#8230;<\/em>that one is now sold out, but a new version is in the works.\u00a0(Attention retailers: you&#8217;ll get 40% off on a pack of ten of our books).<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica,arial,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Mushroom hunting is not only fun and exciting, but incredibly beneficial.\u00a0 It fully engages the mind, helping to develop skills like cooking, photography, and scientific observation.\u00a0 It is good for the body too: \u00a0the \u201ctreasure hunt\u201d aspect of mushroom hunting inspires healthy physical activity, from casual walks down the street to challenging backpacking adventures; and mushrooms themselves provide underestimated health and nutritional benefits.\u00a0 There is also a tremendous benefit of <em>spiritual<\/em> health that comes from disengaging from the computer screen and engaging with the wonders of the natural world instead.\u00a0 In this day and age, Americans could benefit more than ever from that connection!\u00a0 We offer various hands-on mushroom hunting adventures\u2014just click on the CLASSES tab above for more information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: helvetica,arial,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Mushroom hunting is one more reason to preserve our remaining wild lands whenever possible.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-family: helvetica,arial,sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Fortunately, our nation\u2019s citizens are more and more interested in sources of fresh, local, sustainable, natural food; mushrooms are all of this and more.\u00a0 In fact, they might be the most exciting part of the food revolution.\u00a0 Interested in having lots of cool ingredients for creative cooking, or having lots of new and amazing culinary experiences just by trying the ingredients by themselves?\u00a0 Check out the world of edible wild mushrooms!\u00a0 There are so many colors, shapes, textures, and flavors that it can seem unreal. \u00a0 Even just learning about mushrooms\u2014the science of mycology\u2014is in itself an enjoyable activity.\u00a0 Mycology is the reason safe mushroom hunting is possible in America.
