Together, Ryan and Emily Bouchard created the Mushroom Hunting Foundation. \u00a0It is a nonprofit organization that teaches the best methods for foraging, based on the science of mycology, and aims to make mushroom hunting a better-known part of our culture.\u00a0 Ryan and Emily have taught thousands of students how to safely enjoy America’s incredible wild mushrooms and edible plants.<\/span><\/p>\n

Our brand new project:\u00a0 an ONLINE GUIDE for 2025,\u00a0Start Learning Gourmet Wild Mushrooms<\/em>.\u00a0 Designed by Ryan Bouchard, it’s intended for residents of the Northeast and the Midwest (USA).\u00a0 Check it out in the SHOP<\/a><\/strong> tab, and sign up now!<\/p>\n

Our other new project is In the Weeds with Emily Schmidt<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0 In this video series about edible wild plant foraging, Emily Bouchard (a.k.a. Emily Schmidt) explains the safety rules for harvesting one’s own wild plant ingredients, and ways to turn them into delicious and amazing food.\u00a0 The Spring Series edition is now complete; order yours today!<\/p>\n

Ryan T. Bouchard is the author of the groundbreaking book Gourmet Mushrooms of the Northeast 2019,<\/u> and other self-published titles. Written, photographed, and graphically designed by Ryan, this most recent work was actually an innovative combination of book and calendar, showing the annual progression of mushroom seasons, and introducing regional residents to some astonishing and delicious local life forms.\u00a0 It sparked thousands of conversations as it hung on walls throughout 2019, and remains an excellent resource, full of information and stunning photography.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Emily Bouchard, in addition to studying our region’s edible wild mushrooms and plants, studies the nutritional\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0values of those ingredients and the many incredible ways they can be prepared in original and creative\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0dishes. She is the creator of the educational foraging series “In the Weeds – with Emily Schmidt!” & is c\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0currently working towards publishing a cookbook of some of her original creations featuring wild ingredients.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Other topics of her particular interest include the uses of mushrooms in different cultures, and new\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0technological<\/em> uses of fungi, which include decontaminating polluted soil and water.\u00a0 Emily\u2019s passion for\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0ecological awareness and creative cooking has informed and inspired audiences all over New England & b\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n
